The Physics Department at Eastern Illinois University is seeking qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting fall semester 2024, subject to available funding. We are seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate teacher who is an experimentalist in Physics.

The qualified candidate must hold, at minimum, a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field, and show evidence of excellent teaching skills, with an expressed willingness to involve undergraduate students in experimental physics research. The successful candidate will promote undergraduate student learning through mentoring and provide upper and lower-level teaching. We seek a motivated faculty member to assist in the growth of the department and facilitate community outreach and research in an area that will involve undergraduates on campus with existing facilities or facilities that can be developed at an undergraduate institution. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience promoting inclusive excellence is required.

The Physics Department currently consists of 7 full-time faculty and 60 physics majors in all its options. Undergraduate programs include options in Physics, Astronomy, Computational Physics, Engineering Physics, Pre-Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Teacher Licensure in Physics, and soon to be added Computer Engineering.
