BASIC FUNCTION: 

Support professional activities in the Low Level Radio Frequency (LLRF) group in an experienced role.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides professional support for the on-line LLRF systems across the site
  • Provides support for student focussed R&D within the TRIUMF LLRF group
  • Work can include (under the general guidance of a mentor)
    • System expert of aspects of LLRF systems employed on site leading break-fix, proactive maintenance strategy and long-term projects
    • Able to complete LLRF circuit and system response simulations
    • Conducts LLRF system testing
    • Active in set-up, support and troubleshooting of on-line systems

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: 

  • Individual contributor role with no requirement for supervision or leadership of others
  • Expected to provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and technical employees within their job area
  • May provide work direction to junior professionals

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

The position requires:

  • Understands RF and SRF principles and able to apply them to straightforward trouble-shooting and operational situations
  • Experience in pcb design of microwave electronics.
  • Able to test cavities and systems with limited supervision
  • Thorough knowledge in area of expertise including tasks, processes and practises
  • Able to write clear test plans, design notes or conference papers in support of a small project with the supervision of a mentor
  • Able to network with senior internal and external professionals in own area of expertise

NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER (NEW):

Some work will require access to exclusion areas where there are activated components. The position requires the incumbent to be trained as a NEW. This is required to access and work in areas that are limited to NEWs, as well as for planning and conducting work in radiation environments. Training will be provided by TRIUMF.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Typically has 4-7 years of professional experience or equivalent in the field of LLRF

$68,800.00 - $86,000.00
