The Extreme Light Infrastructure ERIC (ELI ERIC) is the world’s largest and most advanced high-power laser research infrastructure. As an international user facility dedicated to multi-disciplinary science, ELI provides access to world-class high-power, high-repetition-rate laser systems and enables cutting-edge research, as well as breakthrough technological innovations. The ELI ERIC operates as a single multi-site organization with two complementary facilities specialized in different fields of research with extreme light: ELI Beamlines in Dolní Břežany (Czech Republic) and ELI ALPS in Szeged (Hungary).
ELI Beamlines Facility operates four cutting-edge high-power femtosecond laser systems reaching unprecedented intensities. The operational laser systems make unique femtosecond sources of X-rays and accelerated particles available to scientific users for pioneering research in physical, chemical, materials, life and medical sciences as well as physics of dense plasmas, warm dense matter, and laboratory astrophysics. The ELI Beamlines Facility employs over 350 researchers, engineers and other professionals from more than 38 countries.
At ELI Beamlines, the Department for Structural Dynamics develops interdisciplinary applications in Atomic, Molecular, Bio-medical and Materials Sciences. Specific research areas include time-resolved X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy, XUV science, and ultrafast optical spectroscopy. As ELI Beamlines is an open access user facility, the core task of the instrument staff is to support members of an international user community who come to work at the scientific end stations.
Postdoctoral Researcher – Ultrafast spectroscopy in solid matter (250)
The Department of Structural Dynamics at ELI Beamlines is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to support and contribute to the ongoing development of a Time-Resolved Spectroscopic Ellipsometry end-station. This postdoctoral position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of ultrafast spectroscopy in solid matter, with a focus on user support and technical development.

- supporting user operation in time-resolved spectroscopic ellipsometry;
- participation in the development of experimental capabilities of the station (extending spectral range, measurements at low temperature and in magnetic field);
- participation in the development of data processing and data analysis tools;
- contribution to the relevant research activities of the Department within national and international collaborations.
Requirements:
- PhD in physics, optics, physical chemistry or related field is desirable. Highly motivated candidates at the end of their PhD are encouraged to apply;
- strong interests in scientific fields related to ultrafast spectroscopy and solid state physics;
- practical hands-on experience with building experimental optical setups (ideally with ultrashort broadband pulses);
- knowledge of nonlinear optics and/or ultrafast spectroscopy;
- experience with femtosecond laser amplifier systems is an asset;
- Matlab, LabVIEW, Python, C++ or related essentials;
- good networking and communication skills, capability to work in team;
- a good knowledge of spoken and written English is necessary as the work environment is international.
We offer:
- to work in this unique international scientific institution;
