Position Summary:

The Physics Department at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level. The successful candidate will be an experimentalist who can develop an independent research program, teach undergraduate and graduate physics and electromagnetics courses, and collaborate with other Faculty in the Department. NJIT is the state's public polytechnic university, classified among the "R1: Doctoral Universities - Very high research activity". New Jersey Institute of Technology's standing in national rankings continues to rise with U.S. News & World Report placing NJIT No. 84 among U.S. universities — improving two places from last year — in the 2025 edition of its Best Colleges list.

Candidates from a broad range of areas of experimental terahertzscience, imaging, communications, and non-destructive evaluation are invited to apply. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with ongoing terahertz-related research in the department as well as to develop their own research program.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

The candidate must have a strong track record of high impact publications, must have completed at least one postdoctoral position and be capable of attracting external funding. The candidate should preferably be eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance. The NJIT Physics department has three faculty members working in terahertz science and technology. The department has two strong graduate programs (applied physics program and interdisciplinary materials science program) with more than 70 graduate students working in areas including terahertz spectroscopy and imaging, nanomaterials, additive manufacturing/3D printing, sensors, and materials characterization.
