Pay Range

$142,050 - $182,388 annually for TSS.3

$170,430 - $218,868 annually for TSS.4

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have an opening for a Technical Services & Operations Specialist within the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate (PLS) Principal Associate Directorate. You will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support for multiple projects and activities with evolving requirements and priorities. Your job responsibilities will be to support division operations to advance programs for improving operations across the directorate.

This position will be filled at either level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

In this role you will:

  • Direct, coordinate and schedule office moves, including prerequisite facility and furniture repairs and improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records, tracking and analysis to support project needs such as interface with Office of Laboratory Infrastructure to order, receive, and deploy new furniture in PLS managed areas.
  • Collaborate with Deputy Principal Associate Director for Operations with the identification, prioritization, and execution of facility modernization projects.
  • Support Directorate Security Officer (DSO) by conducting walkthroughs of PLS managed facilities and ensure completion of Operations Security (OPSEC) and safety assessments.
  • Manage and perform regular facility assessments, building health walkthroughs, inspections, and work observations for compliance with security, ES&H, policies and good housekeeping practices. Collect utilization data to support directorate space management and prioritization of projects, track and follow up on results.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to PLS’ material coordinator service personnel engaged in the execution of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and day to day activities. Serve as a liaison between Directorate Operations, Administration, and O&B Facility Management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the TSS.4 Level:

  • Develop, design, and apply technical solutions to complex problems associated with the planning, operations, and compliance for PLS laboratory research activities.
  • Apply DOE and LLNL ES&H regulatory requirements and operation methods for planning compliant work in PLS managed space.
  • Represent PLS in Directorate and Institutional committees, developing and contributing solutions to difficult operational issues.

Qualifications

  • This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret Clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff and support PLS leadership with programs, projects, or divisions.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment and present and clarify operational information.
  • Significant experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, utilizing excellent customer service skills.

Additional qualifications at the TSS.4 Level:

  • Highly experienced applying essential analytical and problem-solving skills to complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a collaborative environment and successfully manage multiple parallel tasks under limited direction.
  • Expert in providing innovative approaches and applying new methods to broadly defined tasks and operational projects.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience interpreting and implementing LLNL policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate.
