We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer to work on our high voltage and pulsed power components, and particularly on integrating them into our microwave linear accelerator systems for radiation oncology.
The candidate should have a strong background in high voltage, pulsed power, power electronics, charged particle/plasma physics and especially in their systems integration. This will also entail the capability to design and program electrical circuits and troubleshooting communication interfaces. A background in charged particle or plasma physics is a plus. The successful candidate needs to be able to independently design, construct, debug, execute and interpret experiments.
We are looking for a team player who combines a strong technical background with superb practical hands-on aptitude and project leadership skills. The ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as are the ability to efficiently manage project timelines and supplier collaborations in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities will include
- Continuing improvement and systems integration of high voltage and pulsed power electrical systems for microwave linear accelerator (linac) applications.
- Design, execution and interpretation of experiments.
- Specification development, and validation test design
- Provide scope, cost and schedule estimates for research and engineering projects.
- Coordinate resources needed to complete a task or project and ensure project execution to budget and timelines.
- Troubleshooting and root cause analyses to understand component and system failures.
- Work with other scientists, engineers and suppliers to review and solve difficult technical issues.
- Provide support and expertise to Manufacturing to help with out-of-box failures
- Provide support to Field Service Engineering groups when they are unable to troubleshoot problems in the field.
- Improve documentation, baseline data and operating and maintenance procedures.
- Willing to support this role onsite in our Palo Alto office.
Job Requirements
- MS/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Plasma Physics, Engineering Physics or similar field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the design, construction, implementation, integration and maintenance of pulsed power systems
- Experience operating relevant lab equipment.
- Highly motivated team player who can also work independently.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with experts in multiple disciplines.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
