Pay Range

$74,700 - $92,736 Annually for the H04.1 level

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We are looking for a Learning & Development Specialist to support and coordinate new and existing employee development opportunities in our Engineering Directorate. You will work closely with the Workforce team to provide a full range of training support functions such as researching, planning, scheduling, procuring, marketing, tracking, organizing, and evaluating L&D courses and programs. You will provide frontline support to the Workforce Leadership, Engineering Training Manager, instructors, customers, external vendors, and colleagues to support key Workforce Development initiatives within Engineering. We are looking for service-focused individuals who are detail-oriented with a continuous improvement and growth mindset that can manage the entire learning process from identifying training gaps to evaluating courses and programs for learning effectiveness and sustainability.

This role offers the opportunity to engage with colleagues and contribute to our institutional mission and projects through in-person and virtual interactions on a weekly basis. Specific days and hours throughout the week will be jointly determined by you and leadership team.

You will

  • Assist and coordinate Engineering sponsored training, including collaboration on external vendor contracts, course communication and marketing, virtual producing, scheduling, and logistics of all open enrollment and intact team training.
  • Act as the point of contact for customers, vendors, and internal/external instructors and provide great customer service and guidance to all Engineering employees. Assist internal facilitators with attendance, course materials, and presentation needs. As needed, produce virtual courses on various platforms (e.g., Webex, Teams).
  • Develop creative internal marketing materials, and communication plans, to internally distribute/advertise across the Lab, promoting course details, increased participation, and benefits of all L&D career and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the institutional L&D team to create, plan, maintain, monitor, evaluate and update the Engineering master training calendar and to include all development and growth opportunities.
  • Provide administrative support for the Apprentice Program including managing materials, testing, proctoring, submission of state forms, coordination of events, etc.
  • Provide administrative support for the Engineering sponsored academic programs including managing enrollment, partnership with the Education Tuition Assistance Program, and support for any engineering student pursuing a degree or certification, including tracking participants and reporting.
  • Provide Technical Release Representative (TRR) procurement services requiring in-depth knowledge of purchasing requirements and regulations, including participating in procurement audits and reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Training, Organizational Development, Instructional Technology, Industrial Psychology, Education, Human Resources, Marketing, Communication, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of multi-generational training, adult learning, instructional design, basics of virtual/in-person/hybrid instruction, theories, techniques, policies, procedures, practices, and systems.
  • Experience working as a training assistant, learning & development coordinator, project coordinator, administrative support position or similar role demonstrating attention to detail and high organization and planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, customer service orientation and ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member, building relationships with key customers, instructors, vendors, employees, colleagues and all levels of management across the Laboratory.
  • Ability to effectively analyze, synthesize, and problem-solve issues and appropriately suggest solutions, services and/or resources.
  • Self-starter with the ability to organize and manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously, working effectively to plan own work priorities in an environment with a varying level of ambiguity, changing deadlines, instructions, priorities, and frequent interruptions.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneNote). Familiarity with learning management systems.
